About TopMangaApps

· By the TopMangaApps editorial team

TopMangaApps is an independent comparison site that tests and ranks licensed manga, manhwa, manhua and webtoon reading apps. We install every platform, read until the free tier runs out, pay through at least one paywall, and record what actually happens — the coin prices, the wait-for-free timers, the translation quality, the billing behaviour. Nothing here is copied from a press release.

The one number we exist to publish

Every app store tells you a coin pack costs $9.99. None tells you that finishing the series you came for costs $27 on one platform, $4.99 on another and nothing at all on a third. That figure — the real cost of reading one complete series — is the metric this site was built around, and it is why our ranking looks different from most. It carries 25% of every score.

Who runs this site

TopMangaApps is owned and operated by an independent publisher registered as an Osek Patur small business in Ramat Gan, Israel. The person responsible for all content is named, contactable and listed in full on our Imprint — a deliberate choice, because a review you cannot trace to a real person is a review you should not trust.

Our expertise is experiential rather than academic: we hands-on test all 17 platforms we rank — MANGA Plus, Shonen Jump, Comikey, Omoi, WEBTOON, K MANGA, Manta, Mangamo, INKR, Tapas, Tappytoon, MangaToon, WebComics, Toomics, BookWalker, Coolmic, Lezhin Comics — across iOS, Android and the web, through free tiers and paid unlocks. When we say a 70-episode BL series costs about $45 to finish, or that a subscription library quietly moved titles behind a second paywall, it is because we paid for it.

Licensed platforms only

We do not list, link to or rank unlicensed manga aggregators, and we will not take advertising from them. Creators, translators and letterers are paid from legitimate subscriptions and chapter sales; those sites pay nobody, carry advertising that routinely serves malware, and publish incomplete or mistranslated copies. This policy costs us traffic. We apply it anyway, without exception.

How we stay independent

Links on this site currently point directly to official apps, and we earn nothing when you click them today. If we join partner programmes, that will be disclosed on every page — and here is what a commission will never do.

It cannot change a score. Every composite is computed from six weighted axes and the full scorecard is published on How we test, so anyone can check the arithmetic. It cannot buy a ranking position, because positions are sorted by that computed score. It does not stop us being critical. Our current ranking puts three of the best-known platforms in the bottom third on cost, and says so in the same paragraph as the link.

What we cover

The questions readers actually ask: where to read manhwa legally, what each platform really costs, how to read free without piracy, how coins and wait-for-free work, which apps carry 18+ catalogues and how they gate them, and which services have quietly shut down. Our most-referenced pages are the full 17-app comparison and the age ratings guide for parents.

Corrections

Prices move, catalogues rotate, platforms close. If something here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will verify, correct and re-date the page. We would rather be corrected than be confidently wrong.
